Albany - A former Miss Albany's platform has earned her national recognition. Joan Marie Burns received the Daily Point Point of Light award on Wednesday given each weekday to one volunteer or program in the nation.
Burns has contributed more than 3,000 hours to building Habitat for Humanity homes in Georgia, Florida, California, Costa Rica, Antigua and Guatemala.
