ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Darton men's soccer team has reached the GJCAA semifinals for the first time in three years.
Cavaliers beat Gordon College 3-1 in a first round game at the Darton Soccer Complex.
Head coach Bart Sasnett says his team could have had more goals since the outshot the Highlanders but he will take the win.
Darton led 1-0 at half and Anthony Forde's goal in the first three minutes of the second half doubled that advantage.
Stefano Barriga scored the final goal on a rebound of a missed shot with 25 minutes to play.
Gordon's goal game from Elvis Opoku with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game.
Darton now gets a second meeting with #1 Georgia Perimeter.
The Cavaliers handed the Jaguars their only loss of the regular season on the same field the two teams will play on Saturday.
Bart Sasnett said. "Yea we know we left a bad taste in their mouths. We match up really well with them. I would rather be playing them than anybody else."
Darton men will play Georgia Perimeter Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Cavaliers Complex.
The Lady Cavs play Georgia Perimeter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
The women's championship match is 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and the men's championship match is 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
