VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Valdosta hospital has a newly renovated chapel.

South Georgia Medical Center expanded and improved its All-Faiths Chapel.

Local businesses and the hospital volunteer auxilary helped pay for it.

The hospital noticed the chapel was not being used much because it was old and wasn't accessible to people with disabilities.

"With the space requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act it became hard for people with wheel chairs to come through the chapel we had that were stationary," said Stephen Norris, SGMC Pastoral Care Director.

A raised altar, kneeling benches, couches, and a sound system were added.

The hospital wants patients, families, and staff to have a place to pray and have quiet time alone.
