ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Former Lee County star Buster Posey has won the 50th annual J.G. Taylor Spink Award that is presented to the minor league player of the year.

Posey batted .325 with 18 homeruns and 80 runs batted in for the Giants minor league teams in San Jose and Fresno.

The former Florida State Seminole showed no problem in skipping the AA level and when the Giants promoted him to Fresno in June.

He was called up to the major leagues in September and got his first big league hit against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Posey is currently playing in the Arizona Fall League and has a chance to be the San Francisco Giants starting catcher next year.
