ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Darton men's soccer team counting on a strong finish to the regular season to help them in the region tournament.
Head Coach Bart Sasnett and his Cavaliers will host Gordon College tomorrow night in the first round of the Georgia Junior College men's tournament.
Darton enters the tournament having won eight of their last nine with the loss coming in their regular season finale to Middle Georgia.
The Cavaliers won the only regular season meeting against a Gordon College team that is five games under 500.
Coach Bart Sasnett says the Highlanders are better than their record and are a dangerous team to face in the first round of the state tournament.
Bart Sasnett said. "We scored off of a corner kick and we scored off a free kick and we had 25 opportunities and only had two goals so we've got to score more on field play and tactics"
Darton hosts Gordon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and the winner plays Georgia Perimeter in the semifinals on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
The Darton women are the top seed from their half of the sub-region and play Friday at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of the ABAC/Georgia Perimeter match on Tuesday.
