ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  A convicted sex offender, who police say attempted to pick up two young boys as they walked home from school, was just recently released from a Florida prison.

36-year-old Kenneth Kellam was picked up Monday by school police officers near 14th Avenue thanks in part to a concerned parent.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections website, Kellam was released from a Florida correctional facility less than 2 years ago. He was sentenced to serve 5 years for attempting to lure two 13-year-old into his van in Tampa area.

Kellam has been living at the Albany Rescue Mission.

This was the same white van he was seen driving when he attempted to pick up two young brothers, just 9 and 10 years old. School police picked up Kellam near Northside Elementary on 14th Avenue where the mother of those two boys confronted him for approaching her sons.
