ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tuskegee running back Tony Forney scores a touchdown with 25 seconds left and the Tigers beat 8th ranked Albany State 21-19 Saturday afternoon.
The loss is the first for the Golden Rams and fourth straight to the Tigers.
The game got off to a good start for Albany State.
The Golden Rams marched 77 yards in eight plays and scored the first touchdown on a 19 yard touchdown pass from A.J. McKenna to Ronnie Childs.
The Tigers came right back with John Pascley scoring on a two-yard run and the 7-7 score remained for the rest of the half.
The Golden Rams took a 13-7 lead on two Juan Bongorra field goals.
The Tigers offense found the endzone with 9:33 left in the fourth quarter on a 18 yard touchdown pass from Joshua Harris to Antoine Mitchell and Tuskegee led 14-13.
The Golden Rams answered with a 74 yard drive capped off by Demetrice Johnson's two-yard touchdown run.
The two-point try failed and the Golden Rams led 19-14.
The Albany State defense stopped Tuskegee on downs at the Tigers 43 yard line with 2:36 left in the game.
The Golden Rams could not get a first down and punted the Tigers to their ten-yard line with 1:53 left.
That is when the Tigers went on their game winning drive.
The loss drops the Rams and Tigers into a first place tie in the SIAC standings.
Albany State will also fall out of the number two spot in the NCAA DII Super Regional 2 poll but should be remain high enough to still be in playoff contention at 7-1.
Albany State will look to get back on the winning track at home next Saturday against Morehouse.
