Albany-- It's not everyday that an internationally known pianist performs in Southwest Georgia. So today was a rare opportunity for dozens of aspiring musicians to enjoy such a performance.
Leonidas Lepovetsky played some favorite classical pieces for a small audience of high school music students from Dougherty County. The teens say watching an accomplished performer is motivating.
Albany High School 10th Grader Brian West says, "It's a lot of motivation seeing other people perform things so well, help me to continue to play and grow as a person."
The Rewarding Youth Achievement Program invited Lepovetsky to play for these students. The RYA offers cultural experiences, like these, for good students. Lepovetsky is performing at the Albany Municipal Theater at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
