CUTHBERT, GA (WALB) - Randolph county Board members learned this afternoon just how deep in debt they are.
An accountant with Geer and Associates went over an audit with board members. It shows a budget deficit of $2.5 million.
He said the board could probably get by with a 1.5million emergency loan to make it until more taxes come in. Now the board is contacting local banks to find out how much money they can offer.
The board went into executive session after the meeting to discuss hiring new employees but decided to hold off on any hiring. The board hopes to meet next week to approve bank loans.
