VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State IS gearing up for a big Thursday night showdown against number one ranked North Alabama
The Lions of head coach Terry Bowden come to Valdosta undefeated and this week moved to number one in the national Division II polls.
The Lions are loaded with talent with 25 Division one transfers including six former Florida State Seminole players.
VSU head coach David Dean says his young squad has been coming together in recent weeks and are ready for a showdown.
It is a must win game for the Blazers who are currently not in the DII super regional rankings.
Coach Dean thanks that could change with a win over the number one ranked Lions.
David Dean said. "Although we have lost a couple of games early in the year this could really make our season by being able to beat these guys. We feel like if we do that and take care of business in the last two weeks we will probably get back in the playoff hunt."
Game time is 8:00 p.m. Thursday night in Valdosta.
