Albany - A shelter for AIDS patients is forced to close because of a lack of money. For 6 years, the Haven AIDS Shelter in Albany was run largely by grants from Phoebe Putney Hospital's community benefits program. But budget cuts and the desire to help other charities, lead the hospital to turn down a $165,000 grant from the Haven this year.

Haven has found homes for two of the 7 people living at the AIDS shelter and hopes to move the other 5 to the Albany Resource Center. Haven is actively searching for funding to reopen the shelter.
