Food Banks aided by Ga. peanuts

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia's peanut industry is helping feed the hungry and maintain jobs in southwest Georgia.

The Peanut Proud & Feeding Georgia program has donated $20,000 for peanut butter to supply Georgia Food Banks.

Organizers say the program is positive for all involved. It provides those in poverty with a healthy snack that's filled with protein.

It also supports Georgia's 4,500 peanut farmers during a tough economy.

The Tara Foods plant in Albany makes the peanut butter donated through the program, and that helps retain local jobs.
