ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Even with all the recent controversy over financial mismanagement in downtown Albany... some businesses are still working to open downtown.
B-J Fletcher of Ole Times Country Buffet is negotiating to open a new country buffet location there.
While many restaurants are struggling during tough economic times, Fletcher says they are doing well.
She believes a well run breakfast and lunch location in downtown could thrive, and she hopes the community will come together to support downtown Albany.
"There is so many people with small dreams, and if the people who own the buildings down there would work with the people , give them rent at a reasonable price. If I was a building owner down there, I would rather rent to you for $600 a month for three years to give you a chance to build, " Fletcher said.
Fletcher is talking with city officials about the old Belk building on West Broad Avenue as a possible downtown location.
She says she plans to move quickly to open the downtown eatery as soon as she gets a location.
