ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the first time this season the 10th ranked and unbeaten Albany State football team was tested late in a ballgame and the Golden Rams passed the test with flying colors.
Trailing late in the 4th quarter 23-20 on the road to Clark Atlanta the Golden Rams sent the game to overtime thanks to a field goal from Juan Bongarra.
In overtime the Rams held Clark Atlanta to a field goal and A.J. McKenna found Jannell Jones for 14 yards and the game winning touchdown as Albany State won 32-29.
I thought there were some things that we learned about ourself because we had never been in that situation this year but it was something that carried over from last year because we had a lot of 4th quarter bad mistakes that we made last year that cost us so we carried that over to this year and it was just good to pass that test this year" said head coach Mike White.
WR Demetrice Johnson scored three touchdowns but left the game in the third quarter with a possible injury to his ribs. White said on Sunday that Johnson was only benched as a precaution.
Albany State improved to 7-0 and will host Tuskegee University next Saturday.Feedback
