LOWNDES COUNTY,  GA (WALB) - There's a manhunt in South Georgia for an inmate who escaped from custody in Lowndes County.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is searching for 26-year-old Christopher Eric Locher of Hahira.

The inmate was on work detail Friday on Interstate 75 when he escaped near Valdosta. He was last seen working around 4, but the jail wasn't notified until 6 that he was missing.

Locher is white, 5'9, 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes and last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit. He was serving time for a misdemeanor.  Now he faces felony charges.

And anyone caught helping or harboring Locher will also face charges. If you have any information on his whereabouts call the Lowndes County Sheriff's office.
