Valdosta- The K-Mart in Valdosta is getting ready to close, and many South Georgians says it's a huge loss for the city.

Sixteen K-Marts across the state are closing, including the Valdosta location. Over the past year the discount store chain has taken a financial turn for the worst. K-mart shoppers say this closure will have a negative economic impact on the city, forcing many people to lose their jobs.

Charles Reid says, "I think will Wal-Mart being so close, this had to happen. It's just a lot of competition."

Renaldo Beatty says, "It's just sad that so many people have to lose their jobs, and this building will be vacant."

Store workers say K-Mart will close around March 21.
