EARLY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Supporters of a football player who was penalized for pointing to the heavens after scoring a touchdown, turned out in force at the team's game.

RJ Davis was flagged for illegal celebration last week after he pointed to the sky and gave thanks to God.

Angry fans showed up at the Fitzgerald football game against Early county wearing t-shirts in protest of the penalty.

The shirts read "to God be the Glory".

More than thirty people showed up with the shirts to Friday's game.

They must have worked, Fitzgerald won 48 to 0 over Early county.
