City offers negotiations for football

Albany, GA - (WALB) The City of Albany is ready to discuss a lease with a group wanting to bring a team from the Southern Indoor Football League.

The city has sent a letter of intent to South Georgia Entertainment Group president Andre White saying the city will negotiate exclusively with White for 30 days on a lease for the Civic Center.

White is the owner of the South Carolina Force in the SIFL and a team in Albany would be his second one in the league.

The SIFL has six teams all in the southeast area which is one the of things that Albany leaders like.

The decision comes as the South Georgia Wildcats, who have played in the Civic Center for the last five years, made a last minute plea to for the city to reconsider its decision to drop them from the bidding process.
