ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Precision and perfection were on display at the Albany Civic center Thursday night as thousands looked on.

The Marine Corps' Silent Drill Platoon, from Washington D.C. put on a show for south Georgia.

The big crowds also helped with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots kick-off.

Not a step out of line or a rifle out of place as the Marine Corps silent drill platoon showed its stuff.

"It was great I don't know how to say it they were just really good," said Denise Trotten, Albany.

"To me it's amazing because I've never seen anything like that," said Keyana Straughter, Dougherty High, JROTC.

"It was amazing it was precise I loved it, we all loved it," said Megan Johns, Headland High School, Alabama.

The performance was a treat for thousands, schools all across Georgia Florida and Alabama showed up, many of them Junior ROTC members.

"It's a big inspiration for us to come here and realize we need to wake up and look hard and work like they do, it's nearly impossible, but we can work at it," said Johns. "It was just silence, we were so excited and on the edge of our seats."

Members of the drill platoon got star accolades after the performance.

"The precision is phenomenal it's unmatched, they're doing it without the beat of a drum, they're doing it silently and expertly," said Col. Terry V. Williams, Commanding Officer MCLB-Albany.

The spectacular show was not all; hundreds of toys were collected as the Marines Kicked off Toys for tots.

"We collect up unboxed toys and they're provided to families during the holiday period to people in most need," said Williams.

A toy collection they got a big head start on filling, thanks to the draw of a few, and proud Marines.

The Marines will continue to collect toys through the end of the year.
