VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State officials say they are still gathering information about the arrest this week of quarterback Kellen Lewis.
Valdosta Police have told WALB News Ten's Jade Bulecza that Lewis has been charged with misdemeanor battery.
Lewis's girlfriend Haley Sonders says Lewis choked her during an argument Tuesday afternoon at their apartment.
Lewis was released on bond Wednesday.
Valdosta State athletic director Herb Reinhard says he and head coach David Dean are evaluating all the facts in Lewis' arrest.
Reinhard says Lewis is still a member of the football team and is eligible to play in the Blazers game Saturday night at Harding University.
