ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Another of the Black Gangsta Disciples appeared in court Thursday on charges he took part in a deadly gang initiation beating.

33-year-old Gregory Marshall was led into court in handcuffs and shackles for a committal hearing. Police testified that Marshall was one of nearly a dozen men who beat and kicked Reginald Richardson in June are part of his initiation into the BGD gang.

Richardson was taken to the hospital several hours later but he was already dead. Police testified today that Marshall is on the hospital surveillance video as one of the men who took Richardson to the ER.

So far, seven people have been charged in Richardson's death.

"At this point my client feels he was not responsible for the death of Mr. Richardson and that there may be other factors that have not been heard yet," said Defense Attorney Roosevelt Carter II. "But I'm sure will come out in the upcoming weeks."

Police say the gang members took Richardson to a house on Mobile Avenue, and put him in a bathtub of water to try to revive him.

Marshall is charged with aggravated assault, murder, and gang participation.
