Thomasville - Flowers Bakeries is cooking up bread that's healthier. One new loaf goes along with the trendy low-carb diet.

Flowers Bakeries, headquartered in Thomasville, will release three new Nature's Own varieties. They are Reduced Carbohydrate Premium Wheat, Calcium Plus Ultra Wheat and Low Sodium Wheat.

The low-carb loaf has five grams less carbohydrates per slice than a standard wheat slice. The reduced carbohydrate and calcium plus will be on store shelves by February 23rd.

The low sodium loaf will be sold in selected Florida markets.
