Sumter County-- Dave McClintock splits time between homes in Sumter County and Florida and has worked on NASA rocket boosters for 37 years. He has seen three NASA disasters, including the Challenger explosion.

McClintock says his crew has carefully disassembled the Columbia's rocket booster.

He's not sure if anything during the initial take-off played a part in Columbia's destruction. "All torn apart going over them with a fine tooth comb, every system being looked at, pictures being taken of hardware to see if something came off booster that hit shuttle," Dave McClintock said. "Right now that isn't case but still looking."

McClintock says incidents like this affect the morale of NASA workers-- but not their drive to continue on with the space program.
