ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The college basketball season is just around the corner.

Division II teams will be able to start practicing Thursday.

Albany State is one of many teams that will be on the court at the earliest moment.

Rams and Lady Rams hosting their annual midnight madness Wednesday at the HPER gym.

The fun starts with slam dunk and three point contests at 10:30 p.m. before the first practice at 12-01 a.m. Thursday.

Albany State coach Chris Cameron says the event is great way to get the student body excited about basketball and behind the Rams and Lady Rams squads.

Chris Cameron said. "Beginning of the year last year we had a lot of participating. It brings the students out. It is something fun for them to do. It just brings the whole university together as a way to kick off basketball season."

Albany State opens the 2009-200 basketball season November 24th against Georgia Southwestern.
