MCLB Albany-- If you've ever driven by the Marine Base, you've probably noticed that majestic old oak tree at the main entrance.

The huge Live Oak is called the Dubber's Oak. It's named for Marine Colonel A. E. Dubber, who was the liaison officer for construction of the Albany base from 1951 to 1955.

As the base was built, Colonel Dubber insisted that construction of the depot be aligned on this tree. And, so it was.

There's a marker next to the tree that dedicates it to the memory of Colonel A. E. Dubber.
