ALBANY,  GA (WALB) - State Criminal charges against a Bainbridge police officer have been dropped and he's back on the job. But now the federal government is investigating him.

Bainbridge officer Alton Brock and his mother, Martha Love, were arrested in early July and charged with insurance fraud. They owned Southern Companies Staffing Agency and handled payroll and workers compensation insurance for businesses.

The state board of workers compensation arrested them for pocketing premiums and leaving businesses uncovered. The district attorney decided not to press charges, but the case was passed along to the U. S. Attorney's office for review.

Brock's law enforcement certification was revoked, but has been reinstated. He started back work as a patrol officer last week.
