Valdosta State finds themselves in an unfamiliar role heading into the second half of their season.
At 2-3 and 1-2 in the Gulf South Conference, the Blazers chances of winning the conference title and making the DII playoffs are slim.
This Saturday, Valdosta State hosts Henderson State for homecoming.
The Reddies come to Bazemore-Hyder Stadium having won three straight conference games and sitting in second place in the Gulf South standings.
The Blazers have some hope of salvaging their season by winning their final five games.
Coach David Dean says for that to happen his team is going to have to stay focused on the task at hand this week.
David Dean said. "We can't look down the road. We have to look at Henderson State this Saturday. We have got to play them. We can't win the North Alabama game, the West Georgia game or the Edward Waters game. We can't win any of those games this week. We have got to beat Henderson State this week and that is what our full concentration is on." >
Valdosta State is 9-0 all time against the Reddies of Henderson State.
Kickoff on homecoming for the Blazers is 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Valdosta.
