ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police want you to help them protect the city by working right alongside them.

The Department is expanding its Citizen's Academy.

The 9 week course will be offered at least three times a year. Students learn what it takes to be a cop and even ride along with officers.

The last class was full, and the next one starts next week.

"We have our forensics unit come in and show them how fingerprints are lifted, show them what they look for and things of that nature," said Phyllis Banks-Whitley, Albany Police Media Manager.

So many people signed up for the upcoming class, the department is already putting people in the Citizens Academy scheduled for February.
