Atlanta -- Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine is investigating a house fire in Sparks, Ga., that left one man dead. The fire occurred this morning at 406 Hodge Street .

Oxendine said the fire call came in at 8:01 a.m. The home was destroyed. The victim has been sent to the state crime lab for autopsy. The city of Sparks Police and Fire Departments are working with Oxendine’s office on the case.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
