ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany man says the city and county should conduct a straw poll to see if people want to vote on the issue of consolidation.

Malik Rasheed asked city commissioners Tuesday whether a non-binding referendum could be held. The city attorney will research the idea and the cost of such a vote.

Rasheed said, "Find out whether or not we can have a vote on consolidation on the referendum."

Rasheed also wants to know how much consolidation would save or cost the combined government and how his voting districts would change.
