ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Worth County lottery winner plans to help an Albany family she's never met with their medical bills. She tells us it's just the right thing to do.
Rhonda Potts won a rolling jackpot in the Georgia Lottery's Sit and Win game. She wants to give 10-percent of her winnings to the Wright Family.
4-year-old Ward Wright was diagnosed with cancer in April. A couple of weeks ago, the family told us he's doing better but still undergoing treatment.
Potts could certainly use all the money herself. Her husband is battling Lou Gehrig's disease but she's eager to help the Wrights.
"I've always been a giver anyway and I've never really had any money to give. Now that I've been blessed with it, I just want to make sure we do the right thing with it because our family was blessed. So I want to bless somebody else," said Potts.
Potts lost her home in Atlanta and her car after she had to quit her job to take care of her husband. She was inspired to give the money to the Wright family after seeing "Pray For Ward" signs around town.
