Albany-- 200 USDA offices nationwide are expected to be shut down. It's not likely that the Albany office will be on that list.

Georgia's Executive Director of the USDA/FSA says few Georgia locations will be cut since many of the offices have already been consolidated. Steve Newton says, "It's too early to speculate. Look at the national averages, in Georgia see about three closings, but not just the FSA, all USDA offices."

The effort to trim the number of offices will not impact any of the federal jobs. Newton says no employees will be laid off. A list of which offices will be closed should be released in a few months. The actual closings are expected to happen after October first.
