ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Dougherty Drug Unit raided two Albany homes Thursday. Agents say they targeted crack and marijuana dealers in the north Central area of town.

Around 9:30 Thursday night, investigators raided a house on the corner of 10th Avenue and Palmrya Road. A few hours earlier, around 3 p.m., they raided 511 10th Avenue.

Officers say this investigation has been going on for weeks as they try to get drug dealers off the streets.

"It's obviously very important," said Major Bill Berry with the Albany Dougherty Drug unit. "This is where people come for street type deals so we're trying to hit some of these houses that they're selling small amounts out of. It's kind of a nuisance type issue."

Agents are questioning several suspects but they have not filed charges yet. Count on WALB to keep you updated on this investigation.
