ALBANY, GA (WALB) -A convicted sex offender in Albany is charged with raping a six year old relative.
35 year old Joseph Smith is indicted on five counts of sex crimes.
Prosecutors say he raped the little girl between January 2007 and July 2009.
Dougherty Chief Asst. D.A. Christopher Cohilas said "He could receive up to life in prison and that is a sentence that we often seek in the District Attorney's Office for serious sexual crimes against children."
Smith was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in Florida in 1991. He's in the Dougherty County jail without bond.
