ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Library officials opened the Northwest Branch to the public Thursday afternoon at 2:00. The library actually opened its doors Monday, giving employees an opportunity to test out the equipment.
The new library carries about 80,000 items, from books to DVDs.
They've added a coffee shop and if it does well, store may pop up at other branches.
"We hope that people will enjoy coming to the library, read a magazine, newspapers, take a look at a book, take a little break in their busy day, have a cup of coffee, a piece of pie, just something to make their experience at the library a little more pleasant," said Northwest Branch Library Director Teresa Cole.
The library, along Dawson Road, is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 to 6:00 with extended hours on Monday and Thursday until nine. As demand grows additional hours may be added.
