Albany -- One of Albany's leading artists is holding a solo exhibit in her hometown, helping the Albany Area Arts Development Drive. 76 year old Florence Prisant has 65 of her paintings on display at the Arts Council.

Prisant won the Best of Show Award in the 2002 Southwest Georgia Regional Art Show. An art teacher for 30 years, Prisant has works in all styles of inks and paints. Prisant is proud her works are helping in the arts drive.

Florence Prisant said "Economically it helps to bring businesses here, because they want their help to be exposed to the arts. And as a matter of fact many often already are. Also I think it's important it's pursued for the younger people, the students coming up."

Florence Prisant's art exhibit will be on display for the rest of the month at the Arts Council building on North Jackson Street next to the Municipal Auditorium.
