The Syrupmakers broke Monroe's heart with a field goal on the last play of the game.
It was a tough loss but the schedule gets tougher with second ranked Peach County coming to town Friday.
The Trojans defense held Perry to just 11 yards of offense last week while the Peach County offense put 40 points on the scoreboard.
Coach Charles Truitt knows the Trojans are a challenge but a win over Peach puts Monroe back in the region title race.
Charles Truitt said. "That is what we are telling our kids. Cairo has got a good ballclub. We can't sit back and feel bad about it because we have a big game ahead of us and big competition. If we can come back and beat Peach County we are back up where we want to be at."
Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Hugh Mills Stadium.
