Dads and daughters cut a rug

February 7, 2003

Albany- More than 700 little girls came out to the Fifth Annual Daddy Daughter Dance to have some fun with dear old dads.

Even with your dad as your date, a girl's got to make sure she looks perfect. "I got my hair done first, then I got my dress out and got dressed. Then my dad picked me up," says Weslyn Johnson.

The fathers may not have had all the right moves, but their daughters didn't seem to mind. Six year old Iman Wilson even says she hopes to go on a date with her father again some day.

Cutting a rug wasn't on everyone's mind. Jayla Grady claims her favorite part was eating foods like pizza and chicken wings.

Many of these little princesses tuckered out way before the stroke of midnight. "I asked her if she wanted a another dance and she said no," says Huff Croxton as he carries three year old Cilia out the door.

Though years may separate the daughters and dads a little music and a lot of love seems to bridge the generation gap.

All of the proceeds from the Daddy Daughter Dance will go to Girls Inc, Girl Scouts of America, and Habitat for Humanity.
