AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Happy Birthday Jimmy Carter! The Nation's 39th president turns 85 October 1st.
The Rylander Theatre is throwing a birthday celebration for President Carter Sunday and he'll have a huge cake as the centerpiece.
A huge three tiered cake was custom made at the Americus Winn Dixie and it's big enough to serve the president and 800 of his closest friends.
They started working on it Wednesday and finally finished it Friday morning. It has four layers depicting different events in the president's life. The city of Americus arranged to have the cake made.
"He does a lot for Americus. He does a lot with Habitat for Humanity, which is located in our downtown area as well. With everything that he gives back to the community, we wanted to do something special for him," said Americus Downtown Development Director Angie Singletary.
Winn Dixie also made the cake for President Carter's 75th birthday. They say that the hardest part will be getting it to the theatre.
