ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More than 100 people showed up Thursday for another Dougherty County Taxpayers Association meeting.

Terry Hart told members he is ready to face the challenges ahead of him as he accepted the endorsement.

The group is on a mission, they say, to clean up city government.

With symbolic brooms in hand they rallied around the political newcomer who hopes to unseat ward 5 City Commissioner Bob Langstaff in hopes of making Albany government better.

"It's been pretty evident they've had some problems and I think we believe in transparency and responsibility, I refer to it as A.R.T accountability, responsibility and transparency," said Terry Hart, Ward 5 Commission Candidate.

The taxpayers say they would also like to support Christopher Pike in the Ward 3 city commission race, but they're not ready to endorse him just yet.

Pike and former commissioner Arthur Williams are running for that seat which is being vacated by Morris Gurr.
