Albany State ready for Benedict and homecoming

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Albany State is back in action after an open week.

The Golden Rams hosting Benedict in homecoming on the ASU campus.

Homecoming is always a big game for the Rams and even so this year against a Benedict team that has won three straight games.

The Tigers also knocked off Albany State last year in Columbia.

Albany State is of course 3-0 but head coach Mike White and his staff wanting to work out a few problems during last week's open week.

The biggest of which is getting a consistent ground game.

Something the coach believes is going to be needed on Saturday.

Mike White said." If we are going to be successful, we are going to be able to run the football. We cannot allow this team to blitz us and come us and we can't even protect our quarterback."

Running back Demetrice Johnson said. "Coach smith has been doing a pretty good job working hard at football practice and we are going to be able to run the ball pretty much in this game."

WALB will offer a live webcast of the Albany State game with Benedict at this Saturday afternoon.
