Moody takes over Airman theft case

LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) - A Lowndes County theft case involving thousands of dollars in Air Force equipment has been taken over by the Air Force. 

Technical Sergeant Dante Rey was originally picked up by deputies.

Now MPs are on the case. The sergeant is suspected of stealing thousands of dollars of equipment  from both Moody Air Force Base at Valdosta and Robin's Air Force Base at Warner Robins.

"As far as I know he's been with the air force for approximately 15 years and it's a shame that he's done something like this to end his career," said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

Some of the items confiscated from the man's home included a department of defense computer, several projectors, two barcode scanners, pilot helmets, rifles, knives, deployment bags, and clothing.

Barcodes indicating the items were from Moody were found on some of the boxes.
