LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) - An off-duty police officer chased two men who robbed a Lowndes County convenience store clerk, but those crooks are still on the run.

Two men held up the Holiday Market on James Road just before 11 o'clock Friday night.

Off-duty Valdosta Police Detective Brad Ingram was driving by and saw the men leave in a 2002 Black Hyundai. He dropped off his family at the gas station and chased the two men.

They crashed into a ditch but got away.

"It was disabled in the chase and of course they left the vehicle and of course we seized the vehicle and later the vehicle was reported stolen," said Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine.

No arrests have been made, but investigators say they think they know the identity of one of the robbers.
