ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Board of elections has ruled that both Chris Pike and Arthur Williams may run for the Ward three Albany city commission seat.

The candidacies for both men were challenged.

Monday afternoon, the board voted four to one to allow Chris Pike to continue his run for the commission seat.

He had been challenged by Williams, who said Pike did not qualify by the noon deadline on September 4th. The board of elections says he did meet the deadline.

the board also listened to arguments for and against Arthur Williams running for that same seat.

Lon McNeil filed a challenge to his candidacy because Williams has thousands of dollars in tax liens filed against him.

According to state law, candidates who owe taxes must be on a payment plan to be allowed to run.
