TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Thousands are expected for a big barbeque competition in Tifton this weekend.

Competitors started to slow cook pork and other meats Friday for the first Rhythm and Ribs Barbeque Festival.

The event kicked off this afternoon in the heart of downtown on Tift Avenue.

More than 28-teams from across the country are competing.

It kicks off again Saturday at 11:30.

There will be arts and crafts,  free rides and games for children, raffle prizes, and plenty of Barbeque.
