ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some Albany golfers spent an afternoon on the greens to fight crime. Thirteen teams participated in the second Crimestoppers golf tournament at Flint River golf course.

Crimestoppers is a tip line people call to provide police with anonymous information about criminal cases. Some people get cash rewards for those tips.

That's where Friday's tournament came in, raising around $3,000 for the organization.

"It's bigger than last year," said Chairman Jamie Knight.  "That was one of our main goals was to do something bigger and better and to help grow this thing from year to year. It's just so important to fight crime in this city and this is one way we do it."

If you have any information about crime in Dougherty County, you can call crimestoppers. That number is 436-TIPS.
