ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A 21-year old civilian Marine boarded a plane in Albany and left for Iraq Monday morning.

Anthony Peralta is on his way to Iraq in support of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle Program.

He'll help with maintenance of marine vehicles.

Peralta says he's a little nervous but he's ready to go and is honored to be helping out his country.

"I worked at the marine base in California for a while and I've been here in Albany since the end of February just going to different schools training..now it's a big day," said Anthony, who works as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic.

Peralta will be stationed in Iraq for a year.
