ALBANY, GA (WALB) - In honor of Grandparents Day folks at one local nursing home got a special visit from the boys club of Sylvester and they came bearing gifts.

Young men with the Dwight Harris Boys Club made special necklaces for the residents at the Magnolia Manor nursing home in Americus.

The Boys Club Director says he wants the kids to understand the importance of interacting with the elderly.

"It's very very important especially for the guys and I tell those guys the elderly are the ones that prepared the way for us and not only that but they are going to get old one day and the only way they don't do that is they die young and we don't want that to happen so its very important," said CEO and Director Dwight Harris.

Mr. Harris says the boys plan on visiting the nursing home again next year for Grandparents Day.
