ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton college has been approved to receive funding thanks to federal stimulus money.

Georgia got $63 million for projects statewide.

The college will get $494,526 for new light fixtures campus wide and replacing the bay lights in the physical education building.

Some of that money will help buy a cover for the heated pool to cut down on heat lost and the pressure on the cooling system.

The projects will save Darton more than $108,000 annually.

Darton has already cut it's energy budget by 21 percent.

Money for the new energy improvements will start flowing early next year.
