ALBANY, GA (WALB) - While a former partner of the South Georgia Wildcats is trying to bring another indoor football league to town, the Wildcats have signed up to play in the new AF2 league next year.
Wildcats managing partner Silvio Fazzini has signed the paperwork that commits the team to playing in whatever league the AF2 puts together in 2010.
AF2 teams are believed to have had a Wednesday deadline for committing to the newly remodeled league that is expected to be unveiled next week.
The new league is expected to have teams from the AF2 and the Arena League which is expected to cease operations in the near future.
A source who has spoken to Fazzini says Fazzini told him he has signed the paperwork and Fazzini also told our source he plans for the Wildcats to play in Albany next year.
The Wildcats still have to re-negotiate a lease with the city for the Albany Civic Center after failing to sign a deal the city commission approved in July.
